PE and Sport Premium
Physical Education and Sport have a high profile at Parbold Douglas C of E Academy. Miss Cooney is our PE co-ordinator. She is responsible for the development of our PE curriculum and takes a lead role in organising the wide range of sports, clubs and opportunities for physical activity across the school.
Miss Cooney also works alongside the senior leadership team to make effective use of the additional funding given to schools by the government to raise the profile and standard of sports and PE across the school.
Our strategic plan for the use of Sports Premium funding is below. You can find out more about clubs in school on our website too.
Swimming at Parbold Douglas C of E Academy takes place during Y4 at Tarleton Academy High School Pool. Children attend swimming on a Thursday morning for a 45 minute session with qualified swimming instructors. There is always a lifeguard present during sessions and at least 2 members of staff from school also attend to supervise the pupils and support the instructors.
In the 2017 - 2018 academic year 96% pupils were able to swim 25m and 96% were able to undertake basic life-saving training.
In the 2018 - 2019 academic year 96% pupils were able to swim 25m and 96% were able to undertake basic life-saving training.
In 2019-2020, we have extended swimming sessions to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to develop the skills to be confident swimmers, able to complete 25m and undertake basic life-saving skills. We will also provide additional swimming instruction for pupils who have not been able to complete 25m. The PE and Sport Premium grant will be used to fund this (see the PE and Sport Premium Action Plan).
Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
