Christo et Doctrinae - ‘For Christ and Learning’

It is only by understanding the root causes of educational inequalities that schools can identify and promote effective solutions to combating them, so research is an important and growing part of our work. As teachers, we continually have to ask ourselves whether effective learning is taking place in our classrooms. Research can help us to understand what works and why, what the short and long-term implications are, provide a justification and rationale for decisions and actions, help to build a repertoire to help deal with the unexpected, identify problems and informs our continual reflection and improvement.

We are proud of our close links with Meols Cop Research School and have greatly benefited from training sessions and support offered. Staff across the Alliance are currently engaged in enquiry-based research projects which enable them to learn and share ideas with colleagues and explore new and innovative methods of teaching.

We encourage all educators in our Alliance schools to engage with current research so that evidence-informed approaches are followed by all. The Chartered College of Teaching offers access to a healthy research database and produces a termly journal. For more information, follow this link:

If any school has further questions about the research undertaken across the Alliance, please contact Anne-Marie Warrington at
