Initial Teacher Training
Why train to teach with Parbold Douglas Teaching School Alliance?
Teaching is an enormously challenging yet rewarding profession. Our PGCE course is run in conjunction with Edge Hill University and we believe it provides the highest quality support in order to prepare our teachers to face the demands of the primary classroom in any setting.
We work collaboratively throughout the programme and recruitment process with Edge Hill to make sure that your experiences in school and University are positive and purposeful.
The Teaching School Alliance has a wide partnership of schools who work closely with us to ensure that our Teacher Training Programme is of the highest quality and who will provide you with all the support and resources you will need. Each school has been carefully selected to ensure we can offer a bespoke experience to all our trainees.
In addition to the high quality training provided by Edge Hill University, we are able to offer additional CPD opportunities through our network. We offer additional support when preparing for interviews and our trainees have a good track record of securing employment. In many respects, the most important people that you will meet in our schools are the pupils. We are proud of our happy, confident, well behaved young people.
About the programme
The training lasts for one academic year and leads to a qualification of an Edge Hill University PGCE and QTS; you will also have the opportunity to gain Masters Levels credits. The PGCE awarded is teaching at primary level. Our distinct training programme will provide you with opportunities to work alongside expert and friendly practitioners from within the partnership who will support your professional development throughout the course and beyond. Each of our schools has a Professional Mentor.
During the programme, you will complete two placements in our Alliance schools – one in KS1 and one in KS2. You will also attend blocks of time immersed in training at Edge Hill where sessions run 9am – 6pm.
Our UCAS code is 2KMM.
We look forward to meeting you!
